About

Status, mandate, history, host institution and the Committee’s enduring areas of activity.

The National Committee of Ukraine for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is an autonomous collegial scientific coordination body whose activities are guided by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It brings together specialists from research institutions and higher education institutions to support the development of mechanics and related sciences.

Core responsibilities

  • coordinating research in theoretical and applied mechanics and supporting the practical use of research results;
  • strengthening scientific links among institutions of the NAS of Ukraine, higher education institutions, and other organizations where mechanics researchers work;
  • developing international cooperation between Ukrainian researchers and foreign colleagues, scientific institutions, and professional associations;
  • disseminating scientific and technical information in mechanics and promoting research results;
  • supporting the organization of scientific conferences, symposia, and other professional forums.

Host institution

The Committee is hosted by the S.P. Timoshenko Institute of Mechanics of the NAS of Ukraine. The Committee retains its own scientific coordination status and is not an organizational unit of the Institute.

International representation

The Committee represents Ukraine in the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM). This activity is presented in the dedicated IUTAM section.
